Here's the first guitar I've started working on.

It's a black Ibanez acoustic with a Dreadnought body. I've glued the headstock back on, and I presently need to see if it'll stay with the strings reattached.

From what I hear, the family has a five year old. My guess is that he either smashed it himself, or tipped it over and tried riding it like a guitar-car. I'm no child psychologist, but I think most people would love to ride in a car that's shaped like a guitar. Either way, all it'd take would be some extra pressure to the neck at that point. It's a common break point for guitars.

Right now, I've got the headstock glued and mounted back on. There's a problem with the bridge, however, that I discovered last night; The strings touch the frets. That's a big no-no. I'm trying to put it up just a few millimeters. It'll give the guitar a lot of ease to play.

The headstock has been glued back on. The guitar needs a new nut, which is that white strip just below the headstock that holds the strings in place.

Also, I plan to sand and refinish the area where the paint has been chipped. Obviously. :B

My first reaction to this was, "yikes" (and a cringe).

It's saddening how people can mistreat guitars, or any instrument for that matter. :/

You're gonna repaint the headstock, right?

Yes, absolutely. I'm going to sand off the glue that seeped out, then put on some putty to make it one solid surface. Then we paint, and refinish.

This is finished, by the way.

(Hehe, the camera wasn't sure whether to focus on the guitar or the reflection of Daria...)
